Caring For Succulent Plants

Caring For Succulent Plants

Do you love succulents? Want a few pointers on how to care for them? This article will teach you everything you need to know about the care of succulents.

It was love at first sight when I saw my first succulent. It looked like an elegant beauty out of a fairytale storybook. These plants are sure to make anyone smile with how beautiful they look in any environment – perched on top of rocks, sitting prettily on the ground, or happily resting atop one another.

Caring For Succulent Plants

In order to keep my succulents alive, I have had to learn how to be very attentive. They can sometimes be temperamental

Watering

Watering happens every 2-3 weeks depending on the soil. When I stick my finger in the soil if wet I wait another couple of days.

Too much water = dead. Too little water = dead. I use a water bottle that has a tiny tip to help give the plants the perfect amount. I make sure the whole top of the soil has water on it then watch it drain into the soil. Then I stick my finger on the soil again. If still dry it needs more water, if wet then you did perfectly!

Water Bottle similar to the one I use.
Environment

We keep our home at around 70-74 degrees and our plants love it. All of my succulents are doing well. We have two windows on the east side of our home and the plants sit on the window seal. The plants receive about 2-3 hours a day of direct sunlight. If kept outside in the sun the plants will overheat and die. If kept outside below 60 degrees the plant will freeze.

I would recommend keeping them inside for the duration of their life.

Procreate

Procreating succulents is one of the many benefits of these amazing plants. One leaf from the succulent can grow a whole plant. The leaf can either be placed in a small amount of water, in soil, or wrapped in a damp paper towel.

Place soil in pot then place the succulent leaves in the soil.

This is the soil I use for succulents.
