Games to Play this Summer

Games to play this summer

Summer days are full of sunshine and adventure, but sometimes you need a break. I love to keep a deck of cards on hand for when it rains or I want to stay in. But I also love board games. Board games can be enjoyed indoors with the family or outside with friends. They’re perfect for summer parties, and so much fun to play! In this post, we’ll go over some classic games that everyone can enjoy, as well as some modern twists on old favorites. We’ll also talk about making your own game and how to host the best party ever!

Monopoly

Monopoly is a great game to play with friends and family. It is easy to learn, can be played quickly, and it’s fun to fight over who gets the red properties!

Monopoly comes in many different versions. Some are based on cities like Atlantic City or London; others use characters from popular movies or TV shows like The Simpsons, Game of Thrones and our favorite the starters Disney game. But they all follow the same basic rules: buy property, build houses on your properties, collect rent from other players when they land on your spaces and go bankrupt if you owe more than you have available at the end of each round!

Candy Land

If you’re looking for a game that’s easy to learn and fun for the whole family, Candy Land is an excellent choice. The game was originally published in 1952 by Milton Bradley Company, but it’s still one of the most popular children’s board games today.

This simple board game has all the elements needed to make it fun, including chance (you roll dice), strategy (you can move your pieces strategically), and skill (it takes skill just to get through all those sweet treats on your way to the finish).

While it can be played by up to four people at once, Candy Land is primarily intended as a single player experience—and this makes it ideal for parents who want something they can play with their kids without having them take over their turn after every move!

Uno

Uno is a fun, easy-to-learn card game that can be played with your friends and family. It’s great for all ages! You can play Uno in many different ways, but we’ve selected some of the most popular styles:

Water Guns

Water guns are one of the best ways to cool off during the summer. You can play a game of water gun freeze tag, capture the flag, hide and seek, or king of the hill with your friends.

Connect Four

Connect Four is a classic game that’s easy to learn and fun for all ages. In the game, you take turns dropping your colored discs into a grid. The first player to get four discs in a row wins! You can play with two players or with teams of two. This strategy-based game will have you thinking ahead as you try to predict your opponent’s next moves while trying to block their progress toward victory.

This simple but engaging board game is great for kids because it teaches them valuable skills like planning ahead and making choices based on what they know about their opponents’ strategies so far.

Consider making your own game

It’s easy to make your own game, too! If you’re a fan of card or board games, consider creating your own. You can start with something as simple as making up a new rule for an existing game. For example, let’s say you have Settlers of Catan and would like to add some complexity to the game. You might decide that every time someone builds a road, they must also build one settlement and then discard their hand down to four cards — this adds an interesting twist that changes the way people play their cards and affects strategy throughout the rest of the game. Or maybe you want to change around how many points each resource is worth in Monopoly (though we don’t recommend changing it too much).

The bottom line is that games are meant to be fun and they’re a great way to bond with friends and family. Whether you’re in the mood for water guns or something more classic, there’s a game out there for everyone — just make sure you can agree on the rules first!
