How to be a More Organized Mom (or Dad)

How to be a more organized mom has gone through my head every day. Whether you’re a single mom, single dad, or married parent having trouble balancing everything in your life, this article can help you stay on track. At this time I use different tools and techniques than I did 4 years ago. Whereas my goals are different now that I am not a single mother anymore.

Being a mom/dad can be stressful, especially if you’re a single mom/dad. I would know because I was one for many years. If you have a lot going on in your life and need some help staying organized and keeping your stress levels down, here are some things that helped me:

Firstly get an Agenda/Planner. This agenda was great because I have a son who loves to be active.

Secondly, get a Grocery List and Meal Planner. Plan your meals out 1-2 weeks at a time, and only buy what is on the grocery list. Do not feel like you have to purchase an item though, you can make a meal planner and grocery list out of regular paper. I love these weekly grocery pads to help me stay organized by not overspending on groceries and sticking to my list.

Thirdly get a Whiteboard Calendar. And update it every month.

Fourth wash your dishes as soon as you use them. This way late at night you can enjoy your time instead of stressing about the house being a mess.

Fifth, stick to a routine. Supper, bath, brush your teeth then read a book, and then it’s bedtime. This is our routine and it has helped.

Sixth, find time for YOU. Take a nice bath and take a deep breath.

Seventh, pick our clothes and pack lunches the night before. The saves time in the morning

Lastly, remember you are doing the best you can! Live in the moments and be there for your little ones while you can.

Motherhood & Fatherhood

The most important thing you can do as a mom is being present, and raising beautiful souls.  If you’re like me, it’s hard to find the time to take care of all the things that need to get done.

Being a mom is hard work. It’s nice to pretend that we can all just be supermoms who are perfect in every way, but the reality is that even the best of us have days where we feel like we’re drowning under a pile of laundry or struggling to figure out what on earth to feed our kids for dinner. Being a single mom can be even more stressful—I know because I was one for many years.

But let me tell you: The good news is, there are plenty of things you can do to stay organized and make it feel like your life is together.

Final Thoughts

I am grateful for my son and for the opportunity to be a mother. I will always be who I am and wear my heart on my sleeve. Life is about choices and my choice to be the best-organized mother I could be is not an easy choice. So next time you are feeling down or unsure just remember what I have said and maybe this will help you see the light at the end of the tunnel. You’re doing good Mom/dad, keep it up!
