Welcome to Second Grade

Well, here we are again. Time for another school year! The summer wasn’t long enough, was it?

We’ve all been waiting (& dreading) for this day, but it doesn’t seem like the summer went by fast enough. We had so much fun with our kids this summer, and we’re grateful to have been able to share it with them. But now it’s time for them to go back to school.

My son is not ready for the routine of second grade to begin. He wishes summer could have lasted two more months. He does not like when things change. We have been preparing for second grade for the last couple of weeks. I can’t believe how fast time has gone!

We’re so excited for our son to explore everything that second grade has to offer! But we can’t help but miss seeing them every day at home, or taking on vacations whenever we can. So here are some tips on how you can keep your child’s routine from getting too disrupted when they head back to school:

1) Keep the same bedtime—but don’t be afraid of shifting up a little bit if your kid needs more rest or less rest than usual.

2) Keep meals as consistent as possible—but don’t feel like you have to stick with the same three meals every day if something else is working better for your family right now.

3) Stick to a good routine overnight. We do supper, bathe, brush his teeth then my son reads and bedtime. If we have to have supper earlier then we still stick with bath, brushing our teeth, reading, and then bed.

4) Pick out clothes the night before and set them out.

I hope these steps can help maintain a good routine! I think that is the lovely time of year to begin a new year of schooling. The beginning of a new day, and a fresh start. Time to learn new things and have fun with friends.

Have a great back-to-school time! Summer is gone and school is in session. Don’t be upset summer is gone! We still have fall and winter to enjoy the fun before the snow flies! Now that school is in session I hope you all have a great year with your child. Children are worth spending every school minute with because they grow up too fast! So don’t miss out on a single second!
